Aristocrat Leisure has agreed to acquire live slot streaming provider Awager for an undisclosed sum, subject to the receipt of regulatory pre-approvals.

Awager is currently owned by private equity firm Oaktree Capital Management, but the deal for the company is expected to be completed in the coming months.

The slot streaming provider offers real-time casino gameplay to operators via a third-party content portfolio and already has distribution agreements in place with iGaming platforms such as FanDuel Casino and Caesars Entertainment.

Further growth looks to be on the horizon for the provider, as it is set to benefit from Aristocrat’s content and distribution networks.

Headquartered in Israel, Awager has around 75 employees based across Israel, Eastern Europe and the US.

Commenting on the acquisition in a LinkedIn post, Mathias Larsson, Commercial Director Europe for Awager, said: “Cat is out of the bag. Aristocrat Gaming has agreed to acquire Awager. Very much looking forward to working together with Aristocrat to realise the full potential of Awager!”

European vision

Back in May, Larsson shared Awager’s vision for European markets, explaining why Sweden was the jurisdiction selected as its first point of call.

“We identified Sweden as a strong starting point due to its strong gaming culture and rich history in land-based gaming, making Awager a perfect fit for the market. Now that land-based casinos are closed, we see a huge opportunity to provide players with an authentic casino experience online.”

Larsson continued: “Our biggest focus for 2025 is European expansion. Moving into new markets such as Sweden opens up a world of possibilities for us, and our product is perfectly placed to make serious waves on the continent. This will also include the building of a remote studio to ensure we can serve the markets we are targeting in the best possible way.

“We understand that growth requires constant innovation, and we are also committed to enhancing our offerings throughout 2025. We are set to launch a range of different features, including new tournaments, enhanced free spins, and jackpot-style bonuses.

“The third version of our product has proven to be our most innovative and successful to date, but that doesn’t mean we are planning to stop there. We want to provide the most immersive and authentic casino experience on the market, and we will continue to look for new ways to push the boundaries of what is possible in these areas.”

As for Aristocrat, the Awager acquisition sees the company continue to expand its digital operations, following on from the NeoGames acquisition in April 2024, as well as last month’s appointment of Dylan Slaney as Aristocrat Interactive CEO and becoming a founding member of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas International Gaming Institute’s AI Research Hub.
