As Wazdan looks ahead to the launch of its Mighty Wild: Gorilla game, the supplier is looking to replicate the positive experiences of the title into the real world. As part of the launch, the company has sponsored three gorillas at Opole Zoo in Poland to support conservation efforts.
Jakub Popanda, Lead Marketing Manager at Wazdan, chats to iGaming Expert about the decision, why CSR is so important for Wazdan and what players and operators can expect from Mighty Wild: Gorilla.
iGaming Expert: Wazdan is widely recognised for its innovative slot content, but this new initiative shows the company working far beyond game development. Can you explain the scope of your partnership with local Zoo?
Jakub Popanda: While Wazdan is headquartered in Malta, we have several offices here in Opole, and the local Zoo is one of the city’s highlights. We wanted to give back to the community we’re now part of.
Since this October we’re sponsoring three gorillas – Ashmar, Bongo, and Kimbali – which means our support goes directly toward their food, medical care, toys and activities. The zoo’s management has been really enthusiastic about working together, so this might just be the beginning of a longer partnership.
iGX: What inspired Wazdan to focus on gorillas specifically, and why is supporting the zoo such a natural fit for the company?
JP: The timing connects directly to our upcoming release – Mighty Wild: Gorilla launches in January, and we wanted to do something meaningful alongside it. Gorillas are an endangered species, so supporting their care felt like the right choice.
But this also fits into how we approach community support more broadly. We’ve provided flood relief in the Opole region and supported the local animal shelter, so this zoo partnership isn’t a one-time PR stunt – it’s part of our ongoing commitment to the community where our teams live and work.
iGX: Is this collaboration part of a broader CSR framework at Wazdan?
JP: Absolutely. We approach CSR through concrete initiatives rather than just policy documents. Whether it’s community relief efforts, environmental programmes, or partnerships like this one with the zoo – these reflect how we actually operate, not just what we say we value.
We’ve recently been shortlisted for the Charitable Community Award and Sustainability Award at the IGA 2026, which validates that approach. But the real measure isn’t the recognition – it’s whether these initiatives actually help.
iGX: With the upcoming release of Mighty Wild: Gorilla, how do the Opole initiative and the slot title complement one another?
JP: They complement each other naturally, but this isn’t just a marketing tie-in. We were already developing Mighty Wild: Gorilla when we started looking at ways to support conservation in our own region. The game celebrates these animals, and the zoo partnership provides real, practical support for their care. Players get to experience the wild through the game, while we’re helping protect it in reality.
It’s a straightforward connection.
iGX: And finally, what can players expect from Mighty Wild: Gorilla when it launches?
JP: This is the latest entry in our Mighty Wild series, which has been performing well with players globally. Mighty Wild: Gorilla delivers high-volatility gameplay with a maximum win of 2500x bet at 96.20% RTP.
The core mechanic centres on Collector symbols in the top row – they stay active for up to 10 spins, accumulating all cash and jackpot values from reels below. Multipliers can boost collected prizes up to 10x. We’ve integrated three key features: Hold the Jackpot with its respin mechanic, Free Spins where Collectors become persistent, and Cash Out for instant payouts during base game.
What makes it work is how these features connect through the Collector system. During Free Spins, Collect to Infinity removes the countdown limitation entirely, letting Collectors accumulate until the round ends. It’s a solid balance of familiar mechanics with a fresh collection angle that keeps the gameplay engaging without unnecessary complexity.
