Sean Bianco, co-founder of GainChanger, assesses the landscape of iGaming affiliate marketing and SEO in 2025. Taking inspiration from his new 2025 Affiliate SEO Playbook, Bianco attempts to answer the question, ‘should one start an affiliate site in 2025’.

The iGaming affiliate space in 2025 presents a fascinating paradox: regulated markets are tightening their grip while enforcement remains inconsistent across the board. This creates a high-stakes environment where affiliates must choose between operating at reduced profit margins with regulated brands or reaping significantly higher returns from unregulated operators with relatively low legal risk, at least for now.

Simultaneously, the battlefield has become brutal. Your competition isn’t just trying to outrank you, they’re trying to eliminate your assets completely through DMCA abuse, DDoS attacks, negative SEO, and even brand hijacking. In 2025, ranking is only part of the game. Survival is the other half. To succeed, you need to be both offensive and defensive.

iGaming Markets & CPA Rates in 2025

CPAs in 2025 are still strong across most active markets. Here are some rough figures for select jurisdictions:

  • Sweden: €250–€400 per CPA
  • Germany: €100–€200
  • UK: £100–£250
  • Ontario/Canada: $150–$250
  • Brazil/LatAm: €70–€250 depending on traffic quality
  • Crypto & Unregulated: €400–€800+ per CPA

However, affiliates promoting regulated operators are up against a significant challenge: they’re competing in the same SERPs against affiliates promoting unregulated brands who are earning two-to-four times more per conversion. This not only drives up costs for those playing by the rules but also compresses margins to the point where profitability becomes almost impossible in many cases.

Regulated vs Unregulated in 2025

The decision between regulated and unregulated is more nuanced than ever:

  • Regulated Markets:
    • Increasing compliance demands
    • Heavy content costs, lower CPAs
    • Growing SERP competition from unregulated players
    • Enforcement is weak in most regions, though Japan and Singapore are outliers with real crackdowns. Other markets should take a note here
  • Unregulated/Grey Markets:
    • Significantly higher CPAs and faster ROI
    • SEO is more aggressive and volatile
    • Minimal enforcement on affiliates promoting unregulated
    • Higher risk of attacks, affiliate tracking issues, or brand closures

For many affiliates in 2025, the smart path is a hybrid one: use unregulated profits to build sustainable, long-term regulated assets while adapting tactics to play in both arenas.

To be clear, I’m not making a recommendation here, I am merely stating the facts. In fact, it kills me to see the markets come to this.

Who Are You Competing With in 2025?

The competition in 2025 is not just intense, it’s ruthless. Your top SERP rivals are:

  • Operators running affiliate sites to dominate branded queries
  • Large affiliate networks building clusters of sites and parasite SEO pages
  • Media outlets leasing their authority to the highest bidder
  • Blackhat affiliates deploying advanced SERP manipulation, hacking, and botnet traffic to gain edge

Remember, many aren’t playing fair. They’re not just trying to outrank you; they’re actively targeting your infrastructure.

Check the eBook for real examples of how blackhat networks are structured in 2025.

Tactics You Need to Know in 2025 (Even If You Don’t Use Them)

We don’t endorse these tactics, in fact we condemn many of them. Some break legal frameworks outside of casino regulatory guidelines, are completely underhanded and are destroying the real livelihood and people’s hard earned work on real assets. But if you’re not aware of them, you’re already behind, so it’s best to get familiar.

  • DMCA Abuse to take down competitors’ pages and sites
  • DDoS Attacks to crash sites and disrupt indexing
  • Website Hacks targeting WP vulnerabilities and redirect injections
  • Brand Hijacking using lookalike domains and Google Ads cloaking
  • CTR Manipulation using hacked terminals, microtask farms, or rented mobile devices
  • Expired Domains with legacy link profiles still passing power
  • Parasite SEO on media and university domains
  • AdTech Hijacking for geo-targeted bot traffic
  • SERP Flooding using AI + parasite networks to control multiple slots

Our eBook contains a risk-level matrix for each tactic plus mitigation strategies.

The Swedish Market: A Case Study in Blackhat Dominance

Sweden’s SERPs in 2025 are a masterclass in blackhat warfare:

  • Parasite SEO dominates the top 10 for major queries
  • Aggressive cloaking and dynamic redirects are widespread
  • CTR manipulation is used at scale to trigger volatility in rankings
  • High-trust domains are being exploited via brand leasing or takeover

If you want to see what I consider the craziest SERP online, search the keyword “casino utan svensk licens” in Sweden. Follow it daily and enjoy the ride, as it’s an anomaly and the site owners competing there are re-writing the playbook monthly.

Affiliates who survive here aren’t just SEO-savvy, they’re tacticians managing risk, automation and cyber defense in equal measure.

What Winning Affiliates Are Doing in 2025

Let’s be blunt: you can’t win in 2025 with pure whitehat strategies.

Today’s winning affiliates are:

  • Using hybrid blackhat tactics while insulating main assets
  • Building multiple revenue layers (CPA + paid placements + native ad arbitrage)
  • Operating across multiple domains and networks to avoid single point failures
  • Investing in infrastructure protection (CDNs, anti-DDoS, uptime monitoring)
  • Applying manual CTR testing and real-user behavioral tactics to push rankings

Should You Launch an Affiliate Site in 2025?

The answer depends on your mindset, budget, and risk tolerance.

Launch if:

  • You understand this is a high-risk, high-reward game
  • You’re willing to use blackhat or hybrid methods intelligently
  • You’re equipped to defend your infrastructure
  • You have at least €60K+ to invest over 12 months
  • You’re aiming to build a revenue-generating asset, not a quick flip

Don’t launch if:

  • You only plan to use whitehat tactics
  • You expect hands-off passive income
  • You have no experience with affiliate SEO, dev ops, or security

In 2025, launching without a blackhat layer isn’t just risky, it’s unviable. SERPs are volatile, traffic patterns are chaotic and survival requires technical sophistication and flexibility.

Final Thoughts

2025 isn’t just competitive, it’s chaotic. But that chaos brings opportunity.

If you’re well-funded, technically capable, and mentally prepared for a hybrid SEO strategy that includes both defense and legal, above board methods to counter attack, this could be the most lucrative time in a decade to launch an iGaming affiliate site.

But you have to be willing to adapt. The old rulebook doesn’t apply anymore.
