Solidicon has gained approval from Swedish regulators via a new strategic partnership with BetComply.
As a result of receiving a B2B licence, the Gothenburg-based games development studio will now be able to offer its portfolio of games, including titles such as Navigator and Swiminator, to the Swedish-licensed operators.
According to Solidicon, its latest partnership with BetComply, a regulatory and technical compliance company, will support the firm’s ambitions to expand into new regulated markets.
Richard Rydell, COO of Solidicon, commented: “Gaining a Swedish B2B licence is an important step as we look to expand our footprint in regulated markets. BetComply’s support and hands-on expertise made the process far smoother than we expected, and we look forward to working with their team both in Sweden and other markets going forward.”
First introduced in 2023, Sweden’s regulator, Spelinspektionen, requires any supplier offering games to obtain a Swedish B2B licence. Similar B2B licensing is necessary in other European countries, including Malta, Sweden, Greece, Romania, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
Elsewhere, other countries such as Italy, Spain, Denmark and Portugal require providers to meet technical and regulatory compliance standards to operate legally.
“We’ve seen a growing number of regulators introduce supplier licences over the last few years. The trend is only going to continue, so it has never been more important for games studios to get their ducks in a row and stay ahead of regulatory requirements. We’ll be working closely with Solidicon to achieve just that,” detailed Mike de Graaff, Chief Compliance Officer at BetComply.
Last month, BetComply partnered with the player protection software provider, Mindway AI, to advise the company on the future roadmap of its products and new business opportunities.
The partnership will be led by BetComply’s Safer Gambling and Sustainability Specialist, Jez White, who previously served as Director of Player Protection Systems and Analytics at Entain.
