Codere Online has appointed a new Chair for its Compliance Committee, with A.G. Burnett being assigned to the role.

In addition, the operator stated that there has been a favourable resolution to all 24 agenda items that were part of its annual general meeting on Monday, including the confirmation and renewal of all currently serving board members.

Bringing over 20 years of gaming regulation and law experience to the position, Burnett’s appointment comes as Codere Online looks to put its compliance fiasco with the Nasdaq Stock Market behind them.

Codere Online successfully regained compliance with Nasdaq near the beginning of the month, after meeting the stock exchange’s listing requirements. As a result, the operator will continue to be listed and traded on Nasdaq and is no longer at risk of potential delisting.

The operator announced in May that it was subject to a possible delisting after it failed to file its Form 20-F for the year ended 31 December 2024 on time. That form has now been filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission as of 2 June.

Compliance Committee takes shape

Burnett, the former Chair and Executive Director of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), was appointed as Codere Online’s Compliance Committee Chair during the operator’s board of directors meeting earlier this month, succeeding Mark Dunn.

Meanwhile, Rafael Catalá and Yaiza Rodríguez will continue to serve as members of the Compliance Committee.

Burnett brings gaming regulation and law knowledge to Codere Online from previously serving as Chair and Executive Director of the NGCB between 2012 and 2017, as well as a Board Member and Deputy Chief of the NGCB’s Corporate Securities Division and as Senior Deputy Attorney General representing the NGCB and the Nevada Gaming Commission.

Currently a Partner at McDonald Carano, Burnett has expertise in gaming law, regulatory compliance, enforcement, legislative affairs, AML, and sports betting law and regulation.

He also holds leadership and advisory roles with the International Association of Gaming Advisors, the International Masters of Gaming Law, and the UNLV’s Boyd School of Law Gaming Law Advisory Board.

Codere Online also gave its thanks to Dunn, its exiting Compliance Chair, stating: “We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Dunn for his outstanding contribution as a member and Chair of the Compliance Committee.

“From his appointment as a member of the Compliance Committee in 2022, his dedication and integrity have been instrumental in shaping a strong compliance culture across the Company, and we are very grateful for his service.”
