Rank Group has announced the beginning of a “new era of gaming and entertainment” at its longest serving casino venue of the Grosvenor Victoria, commonly known as The Vic on Edgware Road.

The iconic venue that opened its doors in 1965, has undertaken a £15m refurbishment detailed as the single biggest investment in a casino property undertaken by Rank across the Grosvenor estate of 50 UK Casinos.

The Vic has renovated its two casino floors, gaming terrace and poker room, to modernise every corner of its premise to elevate its flagship Central London property in line with regulatory assurance, and changing consumer demands.

Rank seeks to position The Vic at the forefront of the UK casino sector’s response to the Gambling Act Review. Under the new legislative freedoms, the venue has doubled its gaming machine capacity from 40 to 80 and introduced sports betting for the first time – a significant milestone in its operational growth.

The overhaul includes a complete redesign of the venue’s interior, with upgraded finishes, enhanced lighting, modern AV systems and refined décor throughout public areas. A new external façade and entrance have been added to sharpen the venue’s street presence.

Internally, the first floor has been reconfigured to accommodate more gaming machines, while an expanded outdoor gaming terrace now features a retractable roof and a new bar concept – broadening the venue’s appeal to a younger, more lifestyle-focused audience. For patrons, The Vic will maintain its dedicated poker rooms, operating 35 tables around the clock.

The Vic’s on-site restaurant has also been transformed, introducing a menu of Middle Eastern and Arabic cuisine curated by Grosvenor Casinos’ executive chef, further integrating premium hospitality into the gaming experience

Behind the scenes, staff facilities have been upgraded to reflect the company’s ambition to deliver market-leading service standards across its estate.

Mark Harper, Managing Director at Grosvenor Casinos, said the transformation underscores Rank’s broader modernisation strategy.

“This £15 million transformation of The Vic marks our boldest single-site investment to date, and sets a new benchmark for what a casino experience should be in the UK. We’ve reimagined the venue to celebrate its remarkable six-decade legacy while creating an elevated, contemporary destination for today’s guests,” Harper said.

“The Gambling Act Review has opened the door for innovation and growth, and The Vic’s evolution is our first major step in embracing that opportunity.”

Rank declares The Vic as  London’s most “recognisable gaming landmark”, entering a new and positioning the venue not just as a symbol of heritage, but as a template for the future of casino entertainment in the UK.
