Megafair descended on the show floor at ICE Barcelona to outline its vision of bringing skill-based games to the iGaming industry.
Speaking to James Ross, SBC’s Multimedia Editor, Yan Shif, CEO of Megafair, detailed why games from his company’s portfolio, such as Mega Solitaire and Mega Bingo, offer an alternative to traditional online slots.
“Our unique point is that you do not play against the casino and it’s super transparent. You know your entry fee, your prize pool and your skills will influence your result,” he explained. “Our product is more for an audience which wants to play multiplayer games and which come to a casino for bigger entertainment than just slots.”
Shif added that the skill games present an opportunity for operators to not only boost their portfolio but convert fans of Megafair’s games to different verticals across their platforms.
He said: “Smart operators will use these games to convert people and also to retain users. In some [regions] we already see it, the player value and conversion rate are so high that operators eventually will put [the games] in a category or as a standalone category.
“We see some signals from our clients that these games can be amazing to convert people and retain, [but] also, some people just stick to these games and keep playing day after day because they want to improve. They believe that if they play more, they will improve their skill and start to win.”
Given that Megafair’s offerings see players pitted against each other, there is a worry for users that they may be faced with a much more skilled competitor, therefore vastly decreasing their chance of victory and reducing their enjoyment of the games.
To combat this in an effort to improve fair play, as well as boost customer retention for operators, Shif detailed Megafair’s implementation of matchmaking algorithms.
He said: “In most of the cases, you will match with someone [who has] played the same amount of games and has the same amount of days in our system. So, it’s not [the case] that someone will be super skilled against someone who for the first time plays this game.
“So think is [how] we make it fair. We’re trying to make all our products super fair for everyone, for the operators but also for the players.”
