Clever Advertising has expanded beyond its Portuguese roots with the opening of a new office in Malta.

The marketing agency’s base on the island will be located across two floors in Msida’s Wembley Business Centre and serve as the company’s main base outside of Portugal.

Alberto Simões, Clever Advertising’s Managing Director for Malta, commented: “Malta was a natural strategic choice for us. The island offers a thriving talent pool, close proximity to key clients, and a solid regulatory environment in both the Gaming and Financial Services sectors – all of which make it one of the best places in Europe to grow a tech business.”

As part of the move, Clever Advertising has also introduced the Clever Launchpad programme.

This scheme, fully funded by the company, provides paid work experience to Maltese youth who have recently finished school and are not yet in work or further education.

Participants in the scheme will also get the chance to spend time at Clever Advertising’s headquarters in Porto.

Malta’s Minister for Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, described Clever Advertising’s decision as another example of the “proof of confidence” investors have in the island.

“As a government, we will keep fostering the right environment for innovative companies to grow,” added Schembri.

“I particularly welcome their commitment to developing local talent through the Clever Launchpad, which aligns perfectly with our efforts to equip our youths with valuable skills in this fast-evolving sector.”

Malta serves as somewhat of a hub for the gaming industry, and Clever Advertising joins the likes of Kindred, Entain, Everymatrix and Gentoo Media in opening offices in the country.

“We’re here to be part of Malta’s business community for the long term, not only as employers, but as partners helping to advance innovation and professional skills on the island,” concluded Simões.
