Latin America has exploded onto the iGaming scene as legislative developments have opened the door to the significant promise that has often been addressed over recent years.

As a seemingly industry wide descent continues within the region, the battle for supremacy across all facets of the ecosystem is maintained. One such studio that has stressed much confidence in its own prospects is Habanero.

In conversation with iGaming Expert, Sales Manager, Denise Podolech, sheds the spotlight on the group’s strategy to rise above the intense competition, where exactly its sights are set and why, what lessons can be learned from elsewhere and much more.

iGaming Expert: Latin America has captured the industry’s attention for quite some time, however, recent attention has been focused on Brazil. Away from that country, where else has Habanero identified as possessing significant potential?

Denise Podolech: While Brazil continues to draw attention, we see strong potential in markets like Mexico, Colombia and Peru. These countries are making steady progress in regulation and digital infrastructure, creating a solid foundation for growth.

We’ve already taken key steps in some of these markets – Peru, for example, where we’ve secured approval from MINCETUR to operate within the regulated space.

iGX: Building on this previous question, how do you plan to capitalise on these opportunities?

DP: Our approach is rooted in localisation and strategic collaboration. We tailor our content to regional preferences, ensuring that each title resonates culturally and aesthetically with its target audience.

At the same time, we work closely with local operators to deliver strong technical integration and visibility, ensuring that players have seamless access to our games.

iGX: What lessons would you say have been learned within Latin America thus far, and how does this shape the road that lies ahead?

DP: One key takeaway is that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach in Latin America. Each market is distinct – not just in regulation, but in player behavior and preferences.

This has taught us the value of flexibility, cultural understanding, and the importance of working with strong local partners. As we move forward, we’re doubling down on tailored solutions that speak directly to each country’s player base.

iGX: Could you tell us a little about Habanero’s newest products for these Latin American markets, and elaborate on how you have localised your content for players?

DP: We continue to roll out new titles designed with local sensibilities in mind, incorporating regionally inspired artwork, storytelling, and audio.

Localisation is more than just language – it’s about tone, gameplay dynamics, and how rewards are structured. We ensure that each game feels familiar and engaging to players in the region, while still delivering the high production values that define the Habanero brand.

iGX: Habanero entered Brazil in January. How have you aimed to cement a strong position in the country and ensure that it is your content that players engage with over the competition?

DP: From the outset, our focus in Brazil has been on delivering technically robust and locally relevant content.

Rather than simply localising our existing portfolio, we’ve worked closely with partners to understand what Brazilian players respond to – whether it’s pacing, visual themes, or mechanics.

We’ve also ensured full regulatory compliance and seamless platform integration to support operator success and player engagement.

iGX: What would your assessment of the legalised marketplace be thus far?

DP: The legalisation of gaming has helped create a more transparent, accountable, and investable ecosystem.

While there are still challenges in harmonising regulations across jurisdictions, we see progress and strong intent from regulators to shape a well-governed industry. That direction is encouraging and essential for the industry’s long-term success.

iGX: Brazil is demonstrating an evolving regulatory framework. What further changes/restrictions do you expect to be implemented, if any?

DP: We anticipate that Brazil will continue refining its regulatory structure, possibly introducing more detailed standards around game certification, advertising practices, and player protection.

These enhancements are positive – they not only safeguard consumers, but also help build a stable, trustworthy market. We’re well prepared to adapt to any such developments and view them as part of a healthy industry maturation process.

iGX: What does the future hold for Habanero in Latin America?

DP: We have a long-term vision for Latin America. Our focus is on sustainable growth, driven by continuous innovation and deep market understanding.

You can expect to see more content tailored specifically for the region, stronger partnerships with local operators, and ongoing investment in our infrastructure and compliance capabilities. The region is dynamic, and we’re excited to be part of its evolution.
