1xBet has strengthened its player protection and responsible gambling measures following the launch of the 1xCare initiative.
The operator emphasised that 1xCare will focus on enhancing research, education, technology and player well-being within its business under one framework.
1xCare Chair, Simon Westbury, commented: “Responsible gambling is not a slogan; it is a duty. 1xCare was created to support a more informed, transparent, and sustainable gambling ecosystem – one where player protection and well-being are central.”
The new player protection platform will be centred on four pillars, noted 1xBet.
The research hub will support studies on gambling behaviour, addiction risks, and emerging technologies, with transparent public reporting.
Meanwhile, EduCare will promote responsible gambling education, awareness programmes, and ethical standards across operators, sports, and communities.
The TechShield will be focused on advancing responsible gambling technologies, including tools such as those used for early risk detection and safer player experiences.
Finally, the support & well-being arm of 1xCare seeks to improve access to counselling, helplines, and holistic support services through grants and partnerships with qualified organisations.
1xCare will have an advisory committee, and 1xBet emphasised that it will work alongside regulators and researchers.
Westbury added: “1xCare is built to contribute, not to compete. We look forward to working alongside existing experts and organisations that share the goal of better protecting players and building greater trust in the industry.”
Westbury initially joined 1xBet in July 2025 as a Strategic Advisor in a bid to help the operator ‘reinforce its global footprint’.
As part of his role, Westbury was tasked with providing 1xBet leadership with support on international strategy, guiding sustainable entry into new markets and shaping the brand’s approach to key industry initiatives – such as 1xCare.
In a recent interview with SBCNews, Westbury underpinned that player education must go back to basics, teaching players about the most fundamental pieces of terminology in the sector.
He stated: “If you ask the casual player how many of the terms that we use every day, like RTP, RNG or volatility, do they actually understand? When a fruit machine in a pub says it has a 74% RTP, I’m not sure my friends understand what that means.
“There’s a lot of work to be done, let’s see what comes out. But we’re in the same situation where governments give an act for a regulator that may not fully understand.”
