EvenBet Gaming views Sweden as a cornerstone of its Nordic growth strategy after securing a B2B supplier licence from gambling inspectorate Spelinspektionen.
The Malta-headquartered technology supplier has been granted a five-year B2B licence by Sweden’s gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, allowing it to supply poker software and gaming platforms to licensed operators until 2031.
The approval marks another step in EvenBet’s regulated market strategy, following the award of a Danish B2B licence in May, as the supplier builds its presence across the Nordic region.
Confirming the approval to iGaming Expert, EvenBet state Sweden represented a logical next destination for the company’s expansion.

Founded in 2001 by igaming entrepreneur Dmitry Starostenkov (CEO), EvenBet has built as one igaming’s fastest growing online poker networks, and the further solutions of card games and turnkey casino platforms. Recently, the supplier has broadened its offering to include full back-office gaming and player management systems designed to help operators launch and scale regulated gambling markets in full compliance.
Leadership believes poker remains an effective acquisition and retention product at a time when operators are under growing pressure to improve customer economics within the tight margins of European jurisdictions.
In 2024 the Riksdag sanctioned changes to the Gambling Act 2018, introducing a mandatory B2B licensing regime for online gambling software suppliers and games manufacturers from 1 July 2025. The overhaul was deemed necessary to strengthen market oversight, improve supplier accountability and prevent unlicensed content from reaching consumers through the regulated market.

The expansion comes as Sweden continues to rank among Europe’s most competitive regulated jurisdictions. Licensed operators generated SEK6.7bn (€610m) in gross gaming revenue during the first quarter of 2026, with online casino and sports betting accounting for a record SEK4.44bn.
Despite its maturity, the Swedish market continues to wrestle with channelisation. Spelinspektionen’s latest estimate placed the regulated market at 84% of gambling activity in 2025.
However, the figure remains widely contested, with iGaming licensees arguing that online casino channelisation is closer to 57–60%, significantly below the channelisation rate achieved by the regulated sports betting market.
For EvenBet, however, the attraction lies in Sweden’s established regulatory framework and sophisticated operator base, where suppliers are increasingly expected to shoulder compliance obligations on behalf of their customers.
