The hype is real: why operators are excited about the launch of Piggy Smash 2

With Gaming Corps’ hotly anticipated Smash4Cash sequel hitting online casinos, Connor Blinman, the company’s Head of Games, spoke to two operators about why they chose to offer the original to their players.

The demand for non-traditional gaming content has never been higher, and as a studio we are really excited about the opportunities it presents.

Non-traditional content is one of our six core game engines and back in February 2024, we debuted our innovative Smash4Cash mechanic with the launch of Piggy Smash.

This is a game in which players swing at great fortunes. They step into the bank vault and test their luck as they bring the hammer down on the piggy bank, smashing it open to reveal prizes.

Piggy Smash has proved to be a runaway hit with the operators and aggregators that have added it to their game lobbies.

The game has been such a hit that producing a sequel was a no-brainer, with Piggy Smash 2 hitting the market on 29 April.

This time, the vault is bigger, the stakes are higher, and the rewards are more thrilling than ever before.

But before players grab their hammers and smash those piggy banks to smithereens, we spoke to a couple of operators who were among the first to add the original Piggy Smash to their lobbies.

One such company is Hommerson.nl which rolled it out to players in the Netherlands. Casino Manager Tomas Becks explains why Piggy Smash has hit the mark with players.

“Our Dutch audience likes classics and new concepts so I was confident that Piggy Smash would do well with us. The game looks good with the Smash4Cash mechanic adding a totally new element to the gameplay which many players like to try out.”

White Hat’s Content and Lobby Manager, Jamie Lees, says it was down to the “smashing” gameplay.

“What first grabbed me about Piggy Smash was its cracking gameplay and the clever Smash4Cash mechanic. I’m confident that White Hat Gaming customers will love it when it launches because it’s a great mix of smashing gameplay with proper chances to win.”

When developing Smash4Cash and Piggy Smash we wanted it to appeal to a wide range of players. This includes traditional slot and casino players looking for something a little different, as well as the next generation of players.

These players tend to spend most of their time engaged with mobile and video games, so to draw them away from these experiences we knew we had to come up with compelling gameplay that would put them on the edge of their seats.

Lees says that he thinks Smash4Cash will appeal to a wide range of players. “Those who enjoy a bit of fast-paced, instant action will be drawn in and I can see it bringing a new crowd looking for something fresh while still keeping fans entertained.”

Becks agrees and says he thinks Smash4Cash appeals to “players in general” although some of the games it features in, such as Buffalo Bash, have a more specific audience. “Buffalo Bash is especially popular although I do think it appeals to a slightly younger player audience.”

The rise of non-traditional content has been meteoric with casino managers giving games such as Piggy Smash and Buffalo Bash really strong lobby positioning.

It’s our belief that such games are now a must-have for online casinos looking to provide new and exciting experiences to existing players and to engage the lucrative but hard-to-reach millennial and gen Z audiences.

The mechanics and features found in non-traditional games are also finding their way into more traditional slot content as studios and operators look to provide deeper, richer experiences.

Tomas Becks agrees. “There is a very important place for non-traditional game mechanics. Innovation is a requirement to make an industry future-proof and, when you think about it, every mechanic has started as a non-traditional mechanic.

“This is why the implementation of non-traditional mechanics and games should be encouraged – who knows where it might lead to. They could inspire someone to invent the next big thing or even become the next big thing!”

For Lees and White Hat Gaming, non-traditional content is all about keeping things “fresh”.

“Non-traditional mechanics and content have a big part to play in keeping things fresh in the online gaming world and I think this has been proven with the rise of other non-traditional mechanics like crash games.

“While classic gameplay will still always be the priority, players are looking for something new and engaging and titles like Piggy Smash absolutely provide both of those things.”

We have big plans for Smash4Cash including a run of new titles set to hit online casino lobbies throughout the year. Each game takes a different theme and will appeal to different players. But for Becks, the best Smash4Cash game to date is Buffalo Bash.

“I like Wild West and Native American-themed games so this one appeals to me the most. The balls look like bowling balls, and I recently got my behind kicked by my colleagues at bowling, so I don’t mind a few crushing bowling balls!

“I’d love to see more themes and there are tons out there that would work really well with Smash4Cash and I’m sure the Gaming Corps team could put a really unique spin on them.”

Piggy Smash tore up the rulebook, but Piggy Smash 2 is going to change the game. Don’t miss out. Add it to your casino lobby today.
